From the Top Appoints Emily Borababy Director of Development and External Relations

Gretchen Nielsen, Executive Director of From the Top, is pleased to announce the appointment of Emily Borababy as Director of Development and External Relations.

Nielsen said, “Emily brings to From the Top exceptional expertise and a deep understanding of the philanthropic landscape. We are thrilled to welcome Emily to From the Top as Director of Development and External Relations. She joins us during a time of great growth, and her leadership will help usher in a new and vibrant chapter in the institution’s history.”

Emily, a 12-year nonprofit professional residing in Miami, is currently serving as the Executive Director for the American Red Cross, Greater Miami & the Keys Chapter. Her career reflects a passion for service and a successful track record of managing volunteers, developing strategies and working alongside individuals and corporations to strategically conceive of and achieve their goals in philanthropic service.

At the American Red Cross, Emily first oversaw the Tiffany Circle which under her guidance saw 33% growth to become the largest chapter in the nation. She served as well as the Executive Director of the Florida Southern Gulf and Greater Miami & the Keys Chapter, where she provided leadership alongside the Board of Directors during Hurricanes Matthew and Irma and the FIU Bridge Collapse.

Prior to joining the Red Cross in 2014, Emily worked in fundraising positions at such institutions as the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Celebrity Series of Boston and Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. Emily is humbled to have worked alongside generous philanthropic partners on several impactful donor-funded endeavors, including the establishment of the music therapy program at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital.

Emily believes strongly in giving back in her free time as well by serving on several boards and steering committees, including Nu-Deco Ensemble, a genre-bending orchestra based in Miami, Florida. She graduated summa cum laude from Boston University with a degree in vocal performance where she participated in the elite Trustee Scholar program. She currently resides with her dogs Lincoln and Guapo and cat Rosie in Miami Shores.
