Catching up with Mindy Chen

Congratulations to violinist Mindy Chen, who appeared on From the Top’s Show 157 in 2007 as an 11-year-old, on winning the junior division of the 11th International Competition of Young Violinists in Honor of Karol Lipiński and Henryk Wieniawski in Lublin, Poland.  Mindy is now 13 but she competed against violinists up to the age of 17.  The competition is held every 3 years and this year saw participation by 108 violinists from 28 countries.

Our Music Producer Tom Vignieri first heard Mindy as a 9-year-old in 2005 at auditions at the San Francisco Conservatory.

According to her mom, Mindy is now studying in Germany with Professor Zakhar Bron. While there she’s been invited to perform in music festivals and solo concerts in Italy, Switzerland and Russia as well as back in the US.
