Arts Leadership in Cedar Falls, IA
Last week From the Top headed to Cedar Falls for a radio show taping at the University of Northern Iowa as part of our multi-year Iowa Makes Music residency, in partnership with Orchestra Iowa. In addition to visiting local elementary schools, being interviewed on-air by Iowa Public Radio, and, of course, taping the show, our performers participated in the post-show Arts Leadership Orientation.
Collectively they developed the following definition: Arts Leadership is…
♦ When one plays for more people, the more people will be affected
♦ Inspiring anyone who might want to become a musician
♦ Sharing your love, joy, and passion for music with someone else.
While hanging out backstage during the taping the performers had a chance to really perfect their end-of-show bows. Hence their group name Bow Wow. Check out their amazing bows in the video below. Though cellist Andrew Altmaier was unable to attend, in the true spirit of teamwork the other four performers took turns drawing his likeness on a poster so he was able to join the video. See how they did!
For more information about the show, check out this week’s On the Road with Joanne Robinson. Be sure to tune in the week of April 11th to hear Bow Wow’s show! Broadcast times can be found here.
