Arts Leadership in Boston, MA

This past weekend, From the Top taped a radio show right here in our hometown of Boston, MA at Jordan Hall. With a wide array talent, from guest artist Eran Egozy (clarinetist with Radius Ensemble and co-founder of Harmonix Music Systems, Inc) to a wind sextet made entirely of Walnut Hill students, all of our performers did a fabulous job! On Monday evening, we visited the Walnut Hill School to host our Arts Leadership Orientation, where we were joined by six of the performers to explore inspiring ways to make a difference through music.

When asked to develop their own definitions of arts leadership, our group decided on the following:

  1. Giving people a reason to try
  2. Being a role model: teaching others to lead by example and letting others teach you
  3. Inspiring the uninspired and underprivileged

Towards the end of the orientation, the group chose the name “Classical Heroes” (in tribute to guest artist Eran Egozy’s work on Guitar Hero®), and taped a fun video to share their group’s name and message. Check it out!

Check out this week’s On the Road with Joanne Robinson to read more about about the show, and be sure to tune in the week of February 21st for when it airs! Broadcast times can be found here.
