Arts Leadership in Athens, GA

This past weekend, From the Top traveled to beautiful Athens to tape a radio show at the University of Georgia’s Performing Arts Center. Our four stellar young artists were joined by special guest flutist Sir James Galway, making for an unforgettable performance! The next morning, three of the four young performers joined us for the Arts Leadership Orientation, where we explored the values of selflessness and giving back through music.

After seeing some awesome examples of leadership in action, our group developed the following definitions for Arts Leadership:

  1. Awareness of the impact music has on the world
  2. Changing a community through selflessness
  3. Showing that music is a universal language that everyone can enjoy

As a “Thank You” to our presenter, the University of Georgia, our group named itself the “Classical DAWGS”. They made this brief video to introduce their show and share their message on arts leadership. Check it out!

For more information on the show, check out this week’s On the Road with Joanne Robinson. Be sure to tune in the week of March 21st to hear their show when it airs! Broadcast times can be found here.
