An Original Alum Catches Up with Christopher O’Riley
We recently received an email from Kurt Anderson, a cellist who appeared on Show 009 in November, 1999. Kurt told us that he just had re-met From the Top host Christopher O’Riley at a concert in Huntsville, Alabama – Kurt’s hometown!
On November 22, 1999, Kurt performed Allegro Appassionato by Camille Saint-Saëns on From the Top in Cambridge, Massachusetts. A short while later, he started music school at Boston University but admits he got “burned out on music for a while,” so he returned to Huntsville and finished a degree in math. While Kurt works primarily as a software engineer, he is also a cellist in the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra and is presently forming a string quartet.
On February 12, 2011, Christopher performed as a soloist with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra where Kurt was a member of the cello section. They caught up after the show and shared news – most notably that Kurt has gotten married and has a seven month old son.
It’s always fun to hear from our older alumni, and we’re glad Kurt and Christopher had a chance to reconnect!
