American Harp Society National Competition Winners
From the Top alum Helen Gerhold just won 2nd prize in the Intermediate Division of the 19th American Harp Society National Competition! Last fall Helen was a winner of From the Top and Carnegie Hall’s Big Break YouTube Contest and she appeared on Show 231 in New York.
Helen was also awarded the American Harp Society (AHS) Foundation Grandjany Prize and Prix Renie for her performance of Vers la Source dans le Bois by Tournier. In total she walked away with over $1,000!
Held every odd year in Texas, this national competition is part of the AHS Summer Institute and awards a total of $20,000 in prize money. Other From the Top alums received prizes in this year’s competition: In the Intermediate division, 4th place winner Sage Po was featured as a Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist on Show 199 in El Paso, Texas, and 6th place winner Tess Michel performed on Show 167 in Bozeman, Montana. Additionally, Mackenzie Hammel, a performer on Show 195 in Boston, Massachusetts, received 4th place in the Advanced Division.
