Alum Emi Ferguson Awarded Prestigious Scholarship!
Flutist Emi Ferguson (Show 121 in New York City), has won a very prestigious scholarship from The Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans.
Paul and Daisy Soros are Hungarian immigrants and American philanthropists. They established their fellowship program for New Americans in 1997, to “give back” to the country that had afforded them and their children such great opportunities. They felt that assisting young New Americans at a critical point in their education was an unmet need, and they wished to signal to all Americans that the contributions of New Americans to the quality of life in this country have been manifold. This year, 30 fellowships were awarded to support two years of graduate study – in any field and in any advanced degree-granting program – in the United States. Each award gives up to $25,000 in maintenance grants and up to $20,000 in tuition support for each year of graduate study supported, a total of as much as $90,000!
It’s very exciting to have one of these 30 awards go to a From the Top alum! Emi will use the scholarship to support completion of her study for the master’s degree at Juilliard.
