Meet The Onde Trio

The Onde Trio appears on Show 474.

The Onde Trio is comprised of Elan Dorman Mackenzie (cello), 16, from Berkeley, California; Sydney Li-Jenkins (violin), 15, from Sausalito, California; and Kamil Iny-Woods (piano), 16, from Oakland, California. The trio was formed in 2023 at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) Pre-College under the mentorship of Allegra Chapman and now Doris Fukawa. Since its inception, the trio has brought the requisite combination of sheer dedication, joy, hard work, and attention to detail – with humor always at the ready – as they aspire to create chamber music of the highest quality together. The trio has won numerous awards including First Prize in the US International Music Competition and second place in the MIMA Young Artist Competition and the ENKOR International Music Competition. The trio has played in masterclasses with Emanuel Ax and Jonathan Brown, and participated by invitation in The Alexander String Quartet Chamber Music Intensive. The trio has performed full-length recitals at the Sausalito Center for the Arts, Barbro Osher Recital Hall at the SFCM Bowes Center, among other invited performances throughout the Bay Area and beyond.

The Onde Trio is dedicated to integrating their artistry in the service of communities around them, most recently collaborating with a youth organization providing access to chamber music training for low-income youth, as well as performing in fundraisers to support community organizations. Committed to their ongoing work together, the trio is excited to share their passionate interpretations of classical music with diverse audiences in the Bay Area and beyond.
