Meet Beatrice and Ben Hoang
Beatrice and Ben performed on Show 373 in San Marcos, Texas on June 8, 2019.
As a piano duo Beatrice, 17, and Ben, 16, Hoang from Austin, Texas have won second at the 2018 OHIO International Duet and Duo Competition and were national finalists at the 2018-19 MTNA Senior Duet Competition.
Beatrice started playing piano when she was 5 and is currently a student of Dr. Saida Kafarova. She debuted with the Austin Civic Orchestra at age 11, and has since played with the Round Rock Symphony and the Monroe Symphony Orchestra. At age 14, Beatrice was a national finalist of the MTNA Junior Piano Performance Competition and in 2017 she won first place at the International Keyboard Odyssiad and Festival and the Carmel Klavier International Piano Competition. Most recently, she performed at Carnegie Hall in May.
Ben started playing piano at age 5 and debuted with the Austin Symphony orchestra at age 9. Ben has since played with the Austin Civic orchestra, Fortbend symphony and Houston symphony orchestra. Among his awards are 1st place at the 2018 Walgreens National Concerto Competition, 2nd place at the 2017 HartFort Chopin International piano competition, 1st place at the 2016 San Jose International Piano competition, Gold medal at the 7th and 10th International Chopin Youth Competition in Houston, 1st place at 2017 TMTA Performace contest and 2016 Baylor/Waco Young Artist piano competition. Ben is currently a student of Alexander Malikov and Saida Kafarova.
