This week, from New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall in Boston, our line-up of outstanding young musicians includes a 14-year-old pianist from New York performing Prokofiev, an 18-year-old cellist playing Elgar, and the teenage winner of the U. S. National Accordion Championship performing a virtuosic piece called “Chopin’s Nightmare.”

Performers and Repertoire:

The Juilliard Piano Quintet (violinists Stephanie Song, 18 and Betty Zhou, 17; violist Daniel Hedinger, 18; cellist Philo Lee, 16; and pianist Steven Lin, 17) from New York City, NY, performs Piano Quintet, Opus 81 by Anton Dvorak

Pianist Clare Yeo, 14, from New York City, NY, performs “Mercutio” from the “Romeo & Juliet” suite by Sergei Prokofiev

Cellist and Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Marvin Brown, 18 from Charlottesville, VA, performs “Salut d’Amour” by Edward Elgar

Violinist Mindy Chen, 11, from Fremont, CA, performs “Romanza Andalusa” by Pablo de Sarasate

Accordion player Samuel Thomas, 18, from Cheney, WA, performs “Chopin’s Nightmare” by Joe Spano
